We do not support US Dillions in any way, shape or form. These guitars have serial number on back of head stock and sticker that says Dillion. The Canadian distributor is the originator of Dillion guitars (we're going back to 1996 here) no longer supplies guitars to the US distributor so you can now consider them separate entities.ĭillion Canada, as it is now known stands behind all of its guitars and offers a limited lifetime warrantee on all guitars that we sell. Read that they were busted for copy right (law suit) for coping Dillion US. Unlike Epi they do not have any type of mahogany veneer on them to hide the actual wood or number of pieces used.
The Chinese ones are all Africian mahogany, body and neck. This was the first and only time that we had Dillions made outside of Korea and it was done so we could offer Dillion guitars at a lower price point. Our Dillion guitars are not made in the same factory as Agile.Īll of our Dillions are made in one small independent Korean factory except for a recent one time run of 3 models(the Jr, the chambered LPs and the SG) made in China under the supervision of our Korean factory. The headstock looks cheap and I would have appreciated more grain on the body, but those minor cosmetic details aside, it's an excellent guitar for the price I paid.I will no longer comment on specifics here (telling the truth gets some people mad) but I will clear a few things up for you. I play this thing more than my MIA 2008 Fender Strat. I don't know how much heavy lifting the upgraded pickups are doing, but all I will say is that if this is a "crap" made in China copy, then the American Dillions must be on par with guitars worth $1000's, haha. Doesn't say anywhere on it where it was made. I've got a serial number on the back of the headstock, and that's it.
but there's no other identifying info on the headstock. Dillion Les Paul model quilted top with Seymour Duncans 59 (sold). Is there any surefire way to know which one you have? I dropped $400 Canadian for it and ended up saving a few hundred (the Epi would have been $800+ after tax, and over $1000 with upgraded pickups).Īll I know about Dillion guitars is that there is supposedly a big difference in quality between the Korean-made American Dillions and the Chinese-made Canadian Dillions (with the Canadian Dillions being the worse of the two). But even the feel of the guitar was better. The pickups are NOT stock, so that likely accounts for the gulf in sound quality. I nearly pulled the trigger on one brand new after playing it, but then I saw this used Dillion Explorer up for grabs and figured I'd give it a go before making my decision. Back when I bought the guitar (2014 or thereabouts), I had actually been looking at getting an Epiphone Explorer.
